I am a designer, model and entrepreneur but most importantly I am a mother. As a model I've travelled and have had my hair and make-up done for many years which has taken its toll. I learned early on to take care of my skin. I believed the more expensive the product the better they would work, so  consequently I spent a small fortune on cosmetics. As my daughter became a teenager I was more

determined to research whether it was safe for her to "experiment" with make-up and beauty products.  It became clear to me that I had to make sure the products I was using were "clean". I was not only concerned about what we were putting inside our bodies (we had already started a healthier diet of eating more organic foods) but also what we were putting on our bodies. The skin being the largest organ of our bodies, everything we put onto it is absorbed into it! I was shocked to discover that this was an industry that was unregulated. The words organic, natural & pure didn't necessary mean clean, green and toxic free.

I found it difficult to understand the labels. How do you know if DBT ( Dibutyl phthalate) is good or bad for you? Labelling is so complicated. I almost believe you need to have a PhD to understand them. My quest is to create a place where the information is simple and easy to understand and totally accessible to the average person like myself.
